Rotary Foundation

The foundation supports the mission of Rotary International toward the achievement of world understanding and peace through local, national, and international humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs. Such programs are largely self-help in nature and concentrated on health care, literacy and education.

Club Timeline

1922

Chartered in 1922 by RI, the club was numbered #1279 and later renumbered #1200.

1956

In 1956 the club purchased 1,185 acres of land from the federal government and donated it to the City of Glendale to be used as the Thunderbird Municipal Park.

19__

The Glendale Rotary Foundation has built modest homes in Rocky Point, Mexico for needy local residents.

1966

The club is a partial sponsor of the City of Glendale Summer Band and has supplied ushers to each of the 8 concerts held during the months of June and July. This 125 member band was founded in 1966.

19__

The club has participated in a matching fund grant from the estate of late club member Pete Cherry and his late wife Virginia. These funds are to be used for local charitable purposes.

2013

The club, and the Interact Club of Glendale High School entered a large float in the first-ever Glendale Christmas parade in 2013. This is an example of the civic ventures the club participates in.

20__

For a number of years the club has sponsored a literacy project that provides each 2nd grader a book at one of our town’s schools. The Salvation Army and RotaryClub have partnered in water drives and Christmas bell ringing.
